Sonkher is situated midway between
Nanded and Lawha, in
Nanded District. It lies along the Nanded – Latur State Highway, about 50 km north-east of Ahmedpur and 16 km from Nanded. Penur is 14 km west, while Kandahar is 19 km south-east. Malegaon is 30 km south-west.
Kandahar Fort and old Idgah at Kandahar and Nanded Fort are some historic sites worth paying a visit in the neighborhood. Abchalnagar Sahib, the main Gurdwara of Nanded and one of the four High seats of Authority of the Sikhs, is a major pilgrimage destination for Sikhs from all over the country.
Aurangabad Airport and Nanded Railway Station serve Sonkher. Closest major airport is at Hyderabad.
