Somwarpet is a
taluk headquarters in
Kodagu District of
Karnataka.
Madikeri, the district headquarters, is around 25 km south-west. Some of the finest coffee estates in the district, which are intermittently filled with cardamom and pepper trees, are located here.
There is a Jain monument of the 10th century in Chikkatolur village, which is near Somwarpet. Honnammana Kere, a lake, is about 10 km from here. Kushalnagar, a commercial town and tourist spot, is 18 km south-east and Pushpagiri Hills, ideal for trekking, is about 28 km away.
Mangalore Airport is the nearest airport. Nearest railhead is Subrahmanya Road Railway Station. State Highway 27 passes through Somwarpet.
