Sola Khamba Mosque




Sola Khamba Mosque (also known as Solahkhambi Masjid), is one of the oldest mosques in India. It is located at Ajmer in Rajasthan. 'Sola Khamba' literally means '16 pillars' (this mosque has 16 pillars.) Built of stone, the masjid covers an area of about 1,399 sq ft. It has a portico of about 1,001 sq ft. The base of the mosque is square, middle portion octagonal and the top is circular in shape. The mosque houses several carvings and artworks. The mosque is a fine example for the the blending of Mughal, Jain and Hindu styles of architecture.

The nearest airport is Sanganer Airport (138 km) and Ajmer Junction Railway Station (on the Rewari- Bhilwara line) is the nearest railway station.
