Sohagpur




Sohagpur, formerly called Sonitpur, is one of the prominent towns in Hoshangabad District of Madhya Pradesh. It is about 46 km east of Hoshangabad.

The town was founded at the beginning of the 15th century (1504) by Sultan Hoshanga Shah Gauri, the second of the Malwa kings. The hill resort of Pachmarhi is situated 30 km south-east of Sohagpur.

Bhopal Airport is the nearest airport. Sohagpur Railway Station is on the Itarsi – Katni rail route.
