Slippery Trunk Climbing is also known as Urimaram Eruthal in
Tamil Nadu. This sport calls for gymnastic skill and perseverance. For this game the bark of a tall pole is stripped off. And then it is rubbed well with oil to make it slippery. A pot filled with colored water is tied and kept at its top. The youths try to clamber up this tall pole. This time the others, who are standing around the pole pour water on them and shout to distract them. The first person who breaks the pot is considered as the winner and he gets prizes. This art is one of the popular sports of courage in Tamil Nadu. It is practiced as a game during festival times.
