Siyan Geet is a folk song prevalent in the
Darrang District of
Assam. This style of song was introduced by
Sri Sankaradeva, a great scholar of the medieval times who is considered as the father of Assamese literature. It has lots of similarities to the folk songs commonly sung in other parts of Assam. This particular variety of song concentrates on the episodes from Hindu mythology.
