Siwan District




Siwan District in Bihar is spread over an area of 2,219 sq km. The district is divided into fifteen blocks. Siwan is the district headquarters. The population is above 2 million. Economy is dependent on agriculture and industry. Paddy, wheat, and sugarcane are grown. The district has sugar factories throughout. The Daha and Jharhi are two important rivers.

The birthplace of India's first president, Dr Rajendra Prasad, is at Jiradai. 9th Century Buddha - stupa found at Don is 30 km away from Siwan town.
