Sivapuranathar Temple is situated at Sivapuram, 5 km south-east of
Kumbakonam in
Thanjavur District. The temple is dedicated to
Lord Shiva. Spread over an area of about 1.3 acre, the temple contains many inscriptions related to the history of the place. The goddess of the temple is Periyanayaki. The temple
teertham is Surya Teertham and the sthala vriksham (sacred tree) is shanbagamaram. The main festival is celebrated in the month of
Karthikai. Sivaratri and Navaratri are also celebrated here.
