Sirasangi




Sirasangi,a beautiful valley in Parasgad Taluk, in Belgaum District is renowned for the abode of Kalika Devi and its rich antiquity. Formerly known as Shirasrurungi, this place is dotted with historical inscriptions and remnants of the ancient rulers such as the Kadambas of Banavasi, the Badami Chalukyas and the Rashtrakutas. The traditions link the place with the mythological era of the Ramayana. Main attractions are temples of Banni Mahankali, Kalmeshwara, Bheemarati Honda and Kalika Devi Paduka at the hilltop, and relics of the medieval city Rishyashringapura.
