Simbalbara Sanctuary

Simbalbara Sanctuary, located near Nahan in Paonta Valley of Sirmaur District, is perhaps the most picturesque area of Shivaliks. It is surrounded by dense Sal forests with grassy glades and walking trails. There is a perennial stream to add the beauty.

Rare species such as Goral, Sambhar and Chhital are found here. Accommodation facilities are available in Simbalbara Forest Rest House. One can have a beautiful view of the valley from the rest house.

The sanctuary is well linked by a fair weather road from Puruwala. The nearest airport is at Chandigarh, 87 km from Nahan, and the nearest railhead is at Ambala, 63 km from Nahan.

October to February is the best time to visit.
