Siju Cave

Siju Cave, the third longest cave in the Indian sub-continent, is located on the banks of the river Simsang just below Siju village of South Garo Hills District. It is locally known as Dobakkol or the Cave of Bats. The cave has innumerable internal chambers and labyrinths, which are yet to be explored. The depth of the cave is about 4772 m. A perennial stream, which is abundant with different aquatic lives, flows out of the dark cave. Beautiful stalactites and stalagmites are found inside the cave. The prominent one is the princes Di's chamber, named by the excavators. Siju Bird Sanctuary is located on the other side of the Simsang River. It is a home for many rare and protected wild lives.
