Shri Veera Maruti Temple

Shri Veera Maruti Temple is an ancient temple located at Nandavar close to the southern bank of the Netravati, one of the major rivers of south India. The temple is near Bantwal town, about 25 km from Mangalore. Hanuman, the valiant messenger of Lord Ram, is worshipped as Shri Veera Maruti. The idol is carved out in high relief on jet black granite. His right palm shows the abhaya-mudra, assuring divine protection and blessings to the devotees and the left hand holds a mace signifying the destruction of evil.

People of the region endearingly call him 'Kote Hanumantha' – 'Hanuman of the fort' signifying the deity Hanuman installed in the temple situated in the Nandavar fort of the olden days.
