Shri Varadaraja Perumal Temple




Shri Varadaraja Perumal Temple is a holy spot located on Sirkazhi Road at Thirumangaicheri in Kumbakonam, in Thanjavur District. This ancient temple was built by the Chola rulers around 900 years ago. The main deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu worshipped as Varadaraja Perumal.

In the temple complex, the idol of Lord Hanuman is seen, with his right leg advanced, as if ready to rush to the rescue of his devotees. The 78 ft long brick arch mandapam is a good example of Indian architecture.

The nearest access points to this place are Thanjavur Junction Railway Station and Tiruchirapalli Airport.
