Shri Sundareshwara Swamy Temple

Shri Sundareshwara Swamy Temple is an ancient temple situated on Sirkazhi Road at Neikuppai in Kumbakonam, Thanjavur District. The temple on the banks of the Manniyar, has fallen prey to the ravages of time and is in a damaged condition. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, also known as Shri Sundareshwara Swamy. Goddess Soundaranayaki is seen by the side of Shri Sundareshwara Swamy.

The temple is so constructed that the sun's rays fall directly on the shivling and seems to perform Aarti. So this temple has gained the reputation as one of the temples, where Surya, the sun god worships the shivling for three days every year. The rare architectural design and unique idols and icons make this shrine stand apart. Mahashivratri is the major festival celebrated at the temple.

Thanjavur Junction Railway Station and Tiruchirapalli Airport are the nearest major access points.
