Shri Ramnath Temple

Shri Ramnath Temple is situated in Ponda, about 33 km from Panaji - the capital city of Goa. The presiding deity is Lord Ramnath, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple has four small temples dedicated to Shri Laxminarayan, Shri Shantadurga, Shri Betal and Shri Sidhanath. The five together constitute the Shri Ramnath Panchayatan.

The Shivling enshrined here originally came from Lotulim village in Salcette. The idol was moved to the present site in 1566 to escape the Portuguese wrath. Shri Ramnath Temple was renovated in 1951.

Mahashivaratri is the major festival celebrated. Navratri, celebrated here, attracts thousands of devotees from far and near.
