Shri Pei Alwar

Shri Pei Alwar was the third Vaishnava saint of the three Mudal Alwars (others being Shri Poigai Alwar and Shri Bhoodath Alwar).

He was born near Mylapore in Tamil Nadu. It is believed that he was born in a red Lilly flower in a large well of the Aadhikesava Perumal temple. He is regarded as the amsa (reincarnation) of the Nandaka (Sword) of Lord Vishnu.

'Moondraam Thiruvandadhi' (Third Thiruvandadhi) is his famous composition and is a verse of exquisite literary charm and depth.
