Shri Koteshwar Mahadev Temple




Situated at an altitude of 1,428 m, Shri Koteshwar Mahadev temple has a great following among childless couples. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of a Shivling. According to a legend, a village woman had inadvertently hit a Shivling while digging. Divine voices were then heard, directing people to construct a Shiva temple there. Thus, Koteshwar Mahadev temple was built. It is believed that childless couples who chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra with full faith and devotion here will have their wishes granted. Another popular belief is that during Navratri, Goddess Durga roves around, seated upon her vehicle, lion.
