Shri Karthyayani Temple

Shri Karthyayani Temple is located at Cherthala in Alappuzha District. The temple is a fine example of traditional Kerala temple architecture. There is a Chuttambalam, golden pinnacle and golden flagstaff. The copper plate roofing of the sanctum is noted for its style.

The annual seven-day festival starts with Kodiyettam and ends with Arattu. In this cultural fair, many ethnic programs and art exhibitions are conducted. Kathakali, the most famous traditional art form of Kerala, is also performed as a part of the cultural programs. A big procession on the sixth day evening offers an excellent view. The caparisoned elephants add to the beauty of the procession.
