Shri Kakoleshwara Swamy Alayam dedicated to
Lord Vishnu is a highly revered shrine situated about 36 km from
Machilipatnam in
Krishna District.
The chief idol of this temple is believed to be
swayambhu. There is a separate shrine for Mother Rajyalakshmi Devi. Major draw is the six ft high idol of the chief deity in standing posture. Many legends are connected with this temple.
The nityanaimithika puja is the major
puja offered with religious importance. During the annual festival of Kalyanotsav, which falls in the month of Vaisakha, thousands of devotees throng here for the celebration.
