Shri Bhavani Museum




Shri Bhavani Museum, situated on the slope of Aundh Hill, was established by Shri Bhagwanrao Pantapratinidhi (the king of Aundh) in 1938. The museum has more than 8,000 articles and 16,000 books including 3,500 holy books (handwritten). It has a big department for stone sculptures including the famous 'Mother and Child' sculpture by Henry Moore. The collections include articles of sandalwood and ivory, Indian miniature paintings, Bengali/Western paintings, and coeval paintings. The paintings are drawn by Raja Ravi Varma, Rao Bahaddur Dhurandhar, Baburao Painter, and Satavalekar. There is a small garden within the museum premises. The museum is open on all days except on Mondays.
