Shivaji's Ladder

Shivaji's Ladder is a path down to the valley from One Tree Hill point, a scenic spot, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills. This path is called so because it was used by the great Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji. It lies on one of the beautiful hill stations of Maharashtra, Matheran, which is 100 km from Mumbai. The path was discovered by Hugh Mallet in 1850, but it was already known to the locals for centuries. The path is best suited for trekkers. Neral is the nearest railway station to Matheran, 21 km away. The airport is at Mumbai. The place is linked by road and buses ply frequently from Mumbai and Pune.
