Shitla Ashtami



Shitla Ashtami is one of the important festivals held all over India. This festival is celebrated with great fervor in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. It comes on the 8th day after Holi, followed by Ramnavami on Chaitra Sudi Navami.

This festival is dedicated to the worship of Shitla, goddess of small pox. People believe that the celebration of Shitla Ashtami will ward off the dreaded disease of small pox.
