A west-flowing river, Shiriyar is the main fresh water source of Kasargod District
. It has its origin on the Ankekundi hill ranges in Karnataka
. Its length is about 67 km. In its course, it joins with the Kumbala Lake before draining into the Arabian Sea
. Kallanje Thodu, Kanyana Thodu, Eramathihole and Kumbla are the major tributaries of this river. Fort of Adka, also known as Adkada Kote, lies on the banks of the Shiriyar River.
