One of the amazing structures around Bijapur, Sherza Burj was built by Sultan Ali Adilshah II in 1658. Placed between the Shahpur Gate and Makka Gate, this gate has a 14 ft long cannon known as Malik-I-Madian (the Monarch of the Plain), weighing about 55 tons.
Bijapur Railway Station is located 2 km east of the city center and around 1 km from the Gol Gumbaz. The city of Bijapur is connected to Aihole (129 km), 126970Basavana Bagewadi (43 km), Kundalasangama (67 km) and Badami (132 km).
