Sheopur




Sheopur, the erstwhile capital of the Sheopur princely state, is the administrative headquarters of Sheopur District, in Madhya Pradesh. This historic town is famous for its lacquered woodwork and is a prominent agricultural market in the district. Sheopur is located 210 km south-west of Gwalior.

Places of tourist interest include Kuno wildlife sanctuary, Doob Kund, Sangam of Rameshwar, Vijaypur Durg and the Fort of Sheopur. Teli Ka Mandir and Man Singh Palace in Gwalior and the Fort of Sabalgarh and National Chambal Sanctuary at Morena constitute interesting excursions outside the town.

Nearest airport is at Gwalior. Sheopur Kalan Railway Station has trains to Gwalior and other places nearby. Sheopur is connected by regular bus services with Gwalior, Morena, Shivpuri and Kota.
