Shatni is an indigenous shawl of the
Konyak tribe of
Nagaland. It is worn by the rich women belonging to this community.
A bride is gifted this shawl by her parents on the wedding day. According to custom, this shawl is meant to be preserved by the bride for her whole life. After her death, her dead body is covered by this shawl.
