Originally a province constituted of places
Vedaranyam, Iruppavanam, Thalaikadu, Korukkai, Nemam and Thiruthuraipoondi, Segal is a village located on the eastern side of the main road that connects Thiruthuraipoondi and Vedaranyam forks. The village is mostly open space and sparsely populated. It houses two famous temples, namely
Arthamaneshwarar temple and Thaponayagi temple. The temples were built by Sekkaraiyars, the natives of Segal village and the devotees of
Lord Shiva.
