Satopanth Glacier




Satopanth is an important glacier in the upper Alaknanda River basin. It originates from Chaukhamba Peak. Satopanth - the 13 km-long glacier - derives its name from two words; ‘Sato’ meaning 'truth' and ‘Panth’ meaning 'path'. The altitude of this glacier is 3,810 m and it can be approached only during summer.
