Sathanur Dam is located 32 km from
Thiruvannamalai. Constructed in 1957 on the
Ponniar River, it has a good park with swimming and boating. The capacity of the dam is 7,321 million cubic foot. There is a garden which is one of the famous cine shooting spots in South India. The water from the dam is used for irrigating an area of 7,183 hectares of land.
