Sarwar

Around 60 km from Ajmer, is located an ancient town Sarwar, which earlier was the capital of the Gour Kings and an important center for Jains. Shri Adinath Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra, one of the oldest temples in Rajasthan, is the major draw. This temple has the idol of Lord Adinatha, made of white stone and in the seating posture. Shri Suparshwanath Temple and Shri Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Temple are other major temples in Sarwar. According to historians, Qutub-ud-din Aibak came here with an intention to destroy the major temple and failed in his attempt due to the attack from a flock of honey bees. As a token of this event, an idol of Qutub-ud-din Aibak has been raised near the temple. The birthday of Lord Adinath is the major festival held here annually. During the festival, thousands throng here from far and near. The birthday of Lord Mahavir is also celebrated with religious importance. Nasirabad Railway Station is at 40 km from here and Sanganer Airport is the nearest airport (130 km).
