Sarkara Kaliyoot

Sarkara Kaliyoot is one of the major festivals celebrated in Sarkara Devi Temple, Chirayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram District. This annual festival (February–March) is celebrated to commemorate the fight between Darika and Bhadrakali. It starts on an auspicious Thursday in Kumbham and ends on the ninth day.

This festival is a dramatic presentation of the genesis of Bhadrakali and Darika - representatives of good and evil respectively. The main objective of the festival is to offer the elementary harvest to the Amma (the divine Mother), the defender of the land. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport. The temple is a stone's throw from Chirayinkil Railway Station. Local buses are available from Thiruvanathapuram and Attingal.
