Sarkara Bharani




Sarkara Bharani, the birthday of the Sarkara Devi, is one of the major festivals celebrated in Sarkara Devi Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. It is the second great annual festival in the temple and commences in March-April and ends on Bharani, the tenth day.

The festival starts with Kodiyettu (flag hoisting), nine days before the asterism of Bharani which is considered as the birth star of Sarkaradevi. It ends on the tenth day with Arat (holy immersion) of the deity in the temple tank. Lots of interesting ceremonies are connected with this festival. During the festival, thousands of devotees visit this temple to get the divine grace and blessings.

Chirayinkil Railway Station and Trivandrum International Airport are the nearest railhead and airport. Regular buses are available from Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram.
