Saptharisheeswarar Temple




Saptharisheeswarar Temple, also spelled Saptarishiswarar Temple, is a highly revered shrine situated at Lalgudi, in Tiruchirapalli District of Tamil Nadu. It is situated on the banks of Coleroon River, about 20 km from Tiruchirapalli. The temple dates back to 7th century and was modernized in the 10th century. The temple enshrines Lord Shiva, known here as Saptharisheeswarar, as the presiding deity. Saptharisheeswarar Temple has been glorified by the works of the Shaivite Saints.
