Sannihit Sarovar



Sannihit Sarovar is a holy water tank in Kurukshetra. It is 1500x450 ft in size. Sannihit Sarovar is believed to be the meeting point of seven sacred Sarasvatis.

According the legend, the holy water of the whole land was contaminated with the washed off sins of man. They sought the help of the Lord. Then Lord gave a suggestion that if whole water of Sannihit tank was collected on the days of new moon or on the days of eclipse all your sins would be absolved. From that time onwards it is believed that bath taken on these days will bring the advantage of performing 'Ashvamed Yajna'. The major event that is related to this legend is Kumbh Mela. Local legend is linked with Lord Krishna and his meeting with Radha.

Sannihit Sarovar is a place where prayers and 'pind daan' for the unnatural deaths can be offered. Through this moksha is gained from the worldly ties. Near by attractions are the temples of Dhruv Narayan, Lord Vishnu, Laxmi Narayan, Dhruv Bhagat, Lord Hanuman and Mother Goddess, Durga.
