Sankaram is located 41 km from
Visakhapatnam. Sankaram is famous as a Buddhist site with excavated ruins such as monolithic votive stupas, rock-cut caves, edifices, ancient pottery and 143660}Satavahana coins which are datable to the 1st century. One can see a main
stupa, which was first carved out of a rock and then covered with bricks. A relic casket, three
chaitya halls and votive platforms are also seen here.
