Sanjukta Panigrahi, often referred to as the Queen of Orissi Dance, was born in 1944 to an orthodox family. Sanjukta was the disciple of Guru Kelu Charan Mahapatra. She completed her diploma from Kala Vikash Kendra at
Cuttack and took diploma in Nurutya Praveena at the Kalakhetra of Rukmini Devi Arundale in
Chennai. She passed away on 24 June, 1997.
