Saneeswarar Temple




Saneeswarar Temple is located at Thirunallar, 30 km from Kumbakonam. The deities of the temple are Lord Dharbaranyeswara and Goddess Poghamartha Poonmulayai. The temple is dedicated to Lord Saturn. It is said that the place where the temple is situated was originally a forest of dharba grass. The temple celebrates many festivals among which the Sanipeyarchi festival is the most famous. It is celebrated for two days once in two and a half years. During the festival arrangements are made to have darshan of Lord Saneeswara Baghavan on the Golden Crow Vahana.
