Samovar




Samovar is a traditional kettle of Jammu and Kashmir, used for making tea. This kettle is of Russian origin. According to the local people, a good quality tea can be made only in a samovar. Almost all the houses in this state have a samovar.

Samovar comes in various sizes. It is made of either copper or brass. It consists of a fire-container in which charcoal and coal are kept burning. This container is surrounded by a compartment holding water for boiling. The ingredients used for making a tea are put into this boiling water.
