Samayapuram Mariamman Temple

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is a highly revered shrine at Samayapuram, about 20 km from Tiruchirapalli, in Tamil Nadu. The temple enshrines, Mariamman, one of the forms of Goddess Kali, as the presiding deity. There is also a shrine dedicated to Karuppannasaami a local deity.

Even though the current structure dates back to the 18th century Nayak rulers, the origin of the temple dates to the ancient period.

The main offering of the temple is the Mavilakku Mavu made of jaggery, rice flour, dhal and ghee. Thaipusam is the major festival celebrated here amid much religious fervor.

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is about 10 km from Tiruchirapalli Junction Railway Station.
