SOS Children's Village, a home for the destitute and orphans, is located about 12 km from
Thrissur and 2 km from the village of Mulayam on the Thrissur–
Palakkad highway in
Kerala.
It consists of 17 houses and in each of these houses lives a mother and up to 10 children of different ages. The village assists the children up to the age 12 years and education is provided in the nearby school. For an initial period of three months they take after infants in an in-house dispensary, which is located inside the village. After that, they are handed over to the mothers. Relatives are allowed to visit their children once or twice a year. Besides academic programs, they support each student to lead self-desired and independent life.
