Rutland is one of the islands of
Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This island is near the southern end of South Andaman. It is locally called as Kalapahad. Hill ranges in this area have rocky gravelly slopes where paddy is cultivated on experimental basis. The main shipping route between the Andaman and
Chennai coast is on the South of Rutland Island, across the Manners Strait.
