Rural Museum




Situated in the campus of Punjab Agricultural University, the Rural Museum showcases the faded and fading aspects of Punjabi rural culture to its best.

The interior of the museum is divided into various sections. It comprises of a collection of Harappan pottery and coins, collected from sector 17 of Chandigarh. House hold equipments such as grain storage bins, spinning wheel, and other equipment for ginning, spinning, and weaving are preserved in the museum. Other main attractions of the museum are the musical instruments that includes Dholak (the drum), and string instruments like Sitar, Sarangi, Tumba, and Algoza. The museum also displays typical dress of a Punjabi lad and lass, jewelry and the Punjabi Juttis.

The museum is open on all working days of the university from 09:00 to 13:00 hrs and 14:00 to 17:00 hrs.
