Rumi Darwaza is a unique structure in
Lucknow. Built by Nawab Asaf ud Daulah in 1786, it stands west of
Bada Imambara and is 60-ft high. It was built on the lines of a gate at Rum in Constantinople.
Rumi Darwaza is also known as Turkish Gateway and neither wood nor iron was used in its construction. The topmost part of the Darwaza consists of an eight faceted chhatri, approachable by a staircase.
