Rockfort Tayumanavar Temple




Rockfort Tayumanavar Temple is located at Tiruchirapalli. The temple is situated on a hill. The presiding deity of this a two storeyed temple is Matrubhooteswarar (Shiva). Many of the ancient saint poets have visited the temple and sung here. The temple has several inscriptions from the Pallava and Imperial Chola period. The temple also has the Kangaala Moorthy, one of the 64 manifestations of Shiva. The main festival is the annual Bhrammotsavam in Chithirai. Other celebrations are Aadi Pooram and the float festival in Panguni.
