Rishi meaning seer, is a very popular word in India. It is a title given to seers of Truth. Rishis have written most of the scriptures in Hinduism. Rishis are believed to have written the scriptures after visualising the ultimate Truth. They act as the medium between Brahma, the creator and the ordinary mortals. They are granted intuition, and disseminate spiritual knowledge for the welfare of the people.
