Ravishankar Dam




Ravishankar Dam, built across the Mahanadi River, is located in Dhamtari District of Chhattisgarh. This 32 meters high dam has a catchment area of 3,670 sq km. It is the main source of water for Raipur, the state capital and Bhilai Steel Plant, about 11 km from Dhamtari.

It is a homogeneous type earth dam. A picnic spot, the dam is surrounded by palm trees, forest and mountains. The nearest airport is at Raipur, 100 km away and the nearest railhead is at Dhamtari.
