Rashi

Rashi is zodiac sign. It is a Sanskrit word which means a collection of elements as in a collection of constellations (Nakshatras).

Rashi is referred to as the grouping of stars in a sign. There are twelve rashis which are spread over twelve Bhavas (houses). Each rashi is 30 degrees segment or constellation, which has stars in that name. Rashies qualify or color the energy of the Grahas in it. It is the type of energy a Graha has at its disposal, or needs, for proper functioning.

The 12 Rashies or Zodiac Signs include Aries (Mesha), Taurus (Vrishabha), Gemini (Mithuna), Cancer (Karkata), Leo (Simha), Virgo (Kanya), Libra (Tula), Scorpio (Virshika), Sagittarius (Dhanus), Capricorn (Makara), Aquarius (Kumbha) and Pisces (Meena).
