Ramnagar is located in Chandauli District. It is strategically located on the right bank of the Ganges opposite to Varanasi.

Ramnagar served as the residence of Maharaja Balwant Singh of Varanasi. Ramnagar fort, built by him in 1750, now houses a museum which displays arms, decorated palanquins, gold-plated elephant howdahs and outfits of former Maharajas of Varanasi. A temple dedicated to Veda Vyasa and a beautiful tank is also found inside the fort.

Ramnagar is about 7 km from Varanasi and 10 km from Mughal Sarai. Varanasi Junction Railway Station and Mughal Sarai Junction Railway Station are the nearest railheads. Varanasi Airport is the nearest airport.
