Ramaul Ballads

Ramaul is a folk song native to the Kumaon region of Uttaranchal. These songs are themed around the valor of the kings belonging to Ramaul dynasty, the erstwhile ruling dynasty of this region.

The kings belonging to the Ramaul dynasty were believed to be incarnation of God. The Ramaul songs are therefore given the status of a prayer. The artists singing these songs use the ‘ Hudka’ and 'Kaans thali’(a steel plate struck to produce sound) for producing the music.
