Ram Leela is a very popular theatrical performance of
Orissa. It is celebrated in the month of
Chaitra (March-April), in honor of
Lord Ram’s victory vice
Ravana. During the festival, epic happenings of
Ramayana are enacted in the form of a folk opera. But burning of the huge effigies as practiced elsewhere in India is not prevalent in Orissa.
